SALMON IN THE AUBURN RAVINE ARE BEING DREADFULLY NEGATIVELY IMPACTED BY NEVADA IRRIGATION DISTRICT’S GENERAL MANAGER REMLEH SCHERZINGER AND BOARD CHAIRMAN JIM BACHMAN, WHO CONTROL EVERYTHING DONE BY NEVADA IRRIGATION DISTRICT (NID). With its callous disregard for the well-being of the fishes in the Auburn Ravine, a stream Nevada Irrigation District (NID) uses questionably on whose authority to deliver water to paying customers downstream, its leadership is allowing the Hemphill and Gold Hill Dams to prevent salmon from reaching prime spawning gravels in Auburn Ravine, one of the best of the 738 tributaries of the great rivers in California. Even though California Department of Fish and Wildlife has sent a letter to Remleh Scherzinger and NID about their violations, they so far refuse to provide fish passage for our beloved salmon, who have spent years maturing in the Pacific Ocean, swimming thousands of miles, and, when the time is right, return to the natal waters of Auburn Ravine, to spawn and perpetuate the species, then die and provide their carcasses for food and fertilizer. They are purely miraculous creatures and NID GM Remleh Scherzinger, for whatever reason, blocks their life cycle with his two dams, Hemphill and Gold Hill. By their cavalier disregard for the salmon in the Auburn Ravine, Remleh Scherzinger and Jim Bachman, their behavior in negatively impacting the salmon is beyond despicable. Here are the documents received from CDFW using the Public Information Act showing that NID is violating the law by block salmon with their dams: Documents received from California Fish and Wildlife responding to a Public Records Act request by SARSAS. We requested all documents concerning Nevada Irrigation District’s application to CFW to perform work on the Hemphill Dam. Letters and internal memos are included. The final document in the series, a Suspension of Notification letter to NID, concludes that the dam is operating in violation of the law. To see these documents, go to www.sarsas.org, click on “Resources” and then Item # 5 in red. SARSAS | Save Auburn Ravine Salmon and Steelhead SARSAS is trying to do with one stream, the Auburn Ravine, what must be done to all streams and rivers on the entire West Coast and that is to make the entire length of the ravine navigable for Anadromous Fish. sarsas.org ..
