Help the Salmon in Auburn Ravine!

Please write a letter to Jim Bachman, Chairman of the Board of the Nevada Irrigation District (NID), demanding that his Board either remove or install fish passage on the Hemphill Dam THIS YEAR WHILE THE SALMON ARE TRAPPED BELOW IT. Fish passage will allow salmon to reach prime spawning gravels upstream of Hemphill Dam. The new General Manager of NID, Remleh Scherzinger, has spewed much happy talk but has done next to nothing to help AR salmon. NID was a good WATER CONTRACTOR, if their is such an entity, under former GM Ron Nelson but has been a water contractor pariah using Auburn Ravine to deliver water to its paying customers for its bottom line with no concern for the salmon and other creatures inhabiting Auburn River. Please help the creatures by writing a strong letter demanding fish passage over their two dams, Hemphill, where salmon are currently languishing, and Gold Hill, which NID refuses to even discuss with SARSAS. The time for courtesy toward NID is long passed. Show NID that many people want it to act and not happy talk about fish passage over the Hemphill Dam and not to refuse to discuss fish passage over Gold Hill Dam with SARSAS. The salmon were at Hemphill Dam October 15. NID did not even apply for a permit to fix HH until November 2. I cannot imagine a worse steward of its dams on Auburn Ravine. Time is of the essence. Please write a letter and mail it today. Jim Bachman Chairman of the Board Nevada Irrigation District Business Center 1036 West Main Street Grass Valley, CA 95945
